Season for Nonviolence: Day 27

Day 27: February 25

The thought for today is GENEROSITY.

Once again, the day’s word is all about Who You Are. It keeps coming back to that doesn’t it? Who are you? Who have you come here to Be?

To be generous in the word’s literal sense is to be of noble birth. It is a state or quality of being exalted of character, thought, or behavior; it is goodness and freedom from meanness. It is not smallness of mind, but the quality of largeness in one’s thinking.

When you have a false image of self – that you are your current circumstances and this is all you are and have – you shrink. You begin to hoard and withhold because you think there is not enough to give. You may have limited vision and little self-worth. You become prone to feelings of envy and jealousy for what others have because, though there is abundance around you, you cannot see it.

You are a Child of God, born of God, One with God; how much more noble a birth could you ask for? How much more exalted? The challenge to you is to know it and live it. Can you raise your consciousness and vision to see the Truth of your origin? You are an heir of the kingdom. As you have been given, so freely give.

When you know Who You Are, you live with a largeness of Presence for you are revealing God within you. Don’t misunderstand; it’s not largeness in the sense of pomposity or arrogance, but of moral character. Have you ever met someone who seemed larger than life? Without really even knowing them, you could somehow sense their greatness. Mohandas Gandhi was such a person. Dr. King was the same kind of person. This is why they attracted so many to follow them. They showed kindness, compassion, Love, and a willingness to give and give and give again.

Take time to reflect and discover Who You Are and Who You came here to Be. Reveal the Divine Presence within you and let It shine. Be kindness. Be compassion. Be a magnanimous giver. Be Peace.

About Rev. Rebecca

After 30 years of trying to avoid God, I finally gave up playing Jonah and answered Love's call to service by becoming an ordained New Thought minister. Since that day in 2007, I've counseled a lot of people, performed some weddings, been a publiic speaker, and done some non-profit board work. Opportunities for service are presenting themselves in new ways for the coming year and I look forward to more of Love unfolding in my life.
