Season for Nonviolence: Day 1

Day 1: January 30

The thought for today is COURAGE

Singer-songwriter Roseanne Cash said, “The key to change is to let go of fear” and she was right. If we’re bound by fear, we will always stay stuck in “the way things have always been.” If we’re afraid, we won’t move forward into the unknown. If we’re afraid, then we do not have faith in the One Who calls us forth.

The Christian scriptures tell us that God Is Love and Gerald Jampolsky wrote that Love is letting go of fear. Fear is the perceived opposite of Love, is unreal, and has no root in the infinite and eternal. We have been called to Love and need to step out in the faith we claim.

The word courage literally means “from the heart.” It refers to what is in your mind and heart, of living out what you say you believe with a knowing, a conviction of Truth. If the Divine Spirit is omnipotent (One Power, All Power, the only Power) then there can be nothing else of power against It; there is nothing to fear.

Be courageous today. Live what you say you believe. Can you imagine what a different world this would be if we all did?

Today, I will show the courage of my convictions and reach out to my family, my community, and my world. I know that real Peace is not only possible, It’s here and now. All I need do is open the eyes of my soul to see it and open my mind and heart to experience It. I will fearlessly live from my heart and Be a Peacemaker.

About Rev. Rebecca

After 30 years of trying to avoid God, I finally gave up playing Jonah and answered Love's call to service by becoming an ordained New Thought minister. Since that day in 2007, I've counseled a lot of people, performed some weddings, been a publiic speaker, and done some non-profit board work. Opportunities for service are presenting themselves in new ways for the coming year and I look forward to more of Love unfolding in my life.
